North East Dance Project

Welcome to North East Dance Project! We are an adult dance company based in Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead, bringing together dancers of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re an accomplished performer or stepping into the studio for the first time, we offer a welcoming space to learn, create, and perform in a community-driven environment.

Our weekly schedule includes a mix of open-level sessions—where dancers of all backgrounds come together—and a dedicated advanced-level class for those looking to challenge themselves further. No matter the level, every class is grounded in our core values of inclusivity, creativity, and community. We explore a range of styles, including classical ballet, neoclassical, contemporary, and jazz.

Why Join Us?

We offer more than just the opportunity to dance - it's a chance to connect and perform in a genuinely welcoming space.

Supportive Environment: Rehearse in a supportive, non-judgemental environment and be part of a team that celebrates individuality. Instruction and choreography are often adapted to accommodate a broad range of abilities, promoting collaboration and creativity across generations.

Access to Professional Quality Experiences: At NEDP, dancers work with professional dancers and choreographers and have the chance to choreograph their own pieces. They wear handmade costumes and take part in high quality performances.

Deepened Community Connections: Performing together builds strong bonds, as working toward shared goals brings people closer. Community is central to our vision, and we value the connections that extend beyond rehearsals. Organised activities outside of the studio deepen our community connection and make North East Dance Project more than just a place to dance.

Regular Performances: We produce large-scale performances three times a year, often in collaboration with regional musicians and artists. These multidisciplinary projects bring together creative voices from across the North East, offering participants the chance to be part of something truly unique and inspiring.

Flexible Rehearsal Options: You can choose which weekly session best suits you. We work on a project-by-project basis, so you have the flexibility to commit for just one three-month term if you wish. We ask participants to aim for around 80% attendance during each term to support group continuity and performance preparation.

Affordable and Accessible: We believe dance should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why we offer flexible payment options, including our ‘Pay What You Decide’ scheme, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
